Daniel Blanco is the co-founder of Broad Street Development Realty Corporation (BSD) and serves as its Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner. Founded in 2004, BSD specializes in the re-positioning, conversion, active management and ground-up development of office and residential properties in New York City. Daniel has executive responsibility for the coordination and execution of all BSD’s seven mainline in-house divisions overseeing BSD’s portfolio of residential and commercial properties valued at over $1.2 billion. These include asset management, leasing, sales and acquisitions, capital improvement, development and construction programs, and dispositions. Daniel was the principal driver in creating BSD’s seven internal divisions during BSD’s first three years of operation. This entirely self-contained vertical operations community allows BSD to develop any product type, in any market, of any scale, for any type of client. Of note is One Exchange Plaza, also known as 55 Broadway, in Manhattan. 55 Broadway is a 32-story, 361,000 square foot, Class A office building located on the corner of Broadway and Exchange Place in the Financial District. Purchased by BSD in the wake of 9/11, Daniel worked directly with New York Police Department Commissioner Ray Kelly and his staff, the Office of The Mayor of New York City and the Department of Homeland Security to develop within 55 Broadway, and bring online in an expedited scheduling framework, The Lower Manhattan Security Initiative (LMSI). LMSI is a New York City Police Department initiative overseen by the Counterterrorism Bureau to increase surveillance efforts in Lower Manhattan and covers a 1.7-mile area from Canal Street to Battery Park, including the New York Stock Exchange, World Financial Center, former World Trade Center site, and numerous financial institutions. Today, Daniel oversees a BSD team of thirty, and over eight million square feet of commercial and residential real estate space, and he partners with over twenty key allies in the intermediary and capital markets. Prior to forming BSD with his partner, Raymond Chalme, Daniel was a Managing Director at the JEMB Realty Corporation from 1998 through 2004. His career in real estate began at the Edward S. Gordon Company (now CBRE), where he directed the management of third-party assets.
